A Hawaiian fusion ensemble from Maui
Kai Mana is not a conventional band. It is a living ensemble of forces — ocean, land, wind, earth, and stars — expressed through chant, melody, rhythm, and story.
Every Kai Mana song begins with listening.
Listening to the ocean breathing at night. Listening to the wind moving through ironwood trees. Listening to stories carried by chant, drum, and memory.
Kai Mana translates to Ocean Power — not force, but presence. The kind of power that moves tides, shapes stone, and carries voices across generations.
The music blends kahiko-inspired chant, pahu and ipu percussion, ʻukulele and guitar, harmony vocals, and modern production tools. Some songs are intimate and melodic, others ceremonial and percussive. All are rooted in Maui and guided by aloha.

Graceful and grounding. Lehua carries songs of love, longing, and connection to ʻāina. Her presence blooms like the ʻōhiʻa lehua after rain.
The heartbeat. Makua Nui anchors the ensemble with deep rhythm and chant, carrying the weight and steadiness of the land.
Playful and quick. Makani moves melodies like a breeze through palms, lifting rhythm and adding lightness to the sound.
Wayfinder and keeper of story. ʻAukai guides the arc of performances, inspired by celestial navigation and ancestral memory.
Long ago, on the shores of Maui, the ocean whispered its songs to the winds, the blossoms, the mountains, and the voyaging stars.
One evening at sunset, a voice rose above the surf — Kaimana, called by the sea to gather the scattered voices of nature.
Drawn by this call came Lehua of the land, Makua Nui of the mountains, Makani of the wind, and ʻAukai guided by the stars.
Together, their sounds intertwined like the elements themselves. And so was born Kai Mana — The Power of the Sea.
