This is the sun-kissed coda of Longing. After all the album's depth — the ceremonies, the healing, the epic voyage — the ache of longing resolves here into pure, joyful presence. The simplest song on the album, and maybe the truest.

Where the Song Takes You

The scene is the quintessential Maui beach day: "Down in Maui, where the sun always shines / The waves are crashing, and the sand feels fine / People smiling, laughing all the time / We're dancing barefoot, the rhythm's so divine." No mythology, no ceremony — just the island on a good day, which is its own kind of sacred.

The second verse is the island's promise: "Take me away on a Hawaiian breeze / To the shores of Maui, where my heart is at ease / The palm trees swaying in the gentle breeze / The ukulele playing, bring me to my knees." The ukulele — the instrument of every kanikapila, every beach gathering — gets its own love letter inside the song.

The chorus is the whole album's resolution in four lines: "Aloha Maui, paradise so true / Aloha Maui, I'm falling in love with you / Oh, the beauty of your island home / Aloha Maui, never let me go." Longing, it turns out, was love all along — and the album ends on a crisp, smiling ukulele strum and warm laughter.

How It Sounds

Bright as the scene it paints. Crisp rhythmic ukulele strumming with cheerful island swing and playful chord flourishes leads the way, light acoustic guitar and a bouncy walking bassline keep a joyful step, and shaker, tambourine, and gentle handclaps complete the beach-party texture. At ~76 BPM half-time pulse it is the most buoyant track on the album — the ukulele strum and handclap grid subdividing at ~152 BPM double-time.

The vocals are sweet and harmonized — lead and ensemble singing with carefree warmth and infectious smiles you can actually hear. The whole thing lasts just over a minute and ends on a single crisp strum and laughter: the sound of a moment you wish would not end, preserved.
