Where the Song Takes You

The song anchors itself in the island's geography from the first line: "From Haleakalā to the ocean blue / Maui, our home, our gratitude for you." Summit to shore — the whole island, claimed in one couplet. Then the abundance: mango, papaya, fruit growing sweet in fertile valleys, the land that feeds the people who love it.

The chorus is pure collective joy: "Mahalo nui, Maui, for your gentle grace / In every blossom, in every sacred place / Mahalo, for the music, a sweet island sound / Love and aloha, forever profound."
