Then ʻAukai brings the voyager's perspective — the song's most stirring turn: "I sailed far on starlit trails / Guided by ancestral gales / But every voyage leads me home / To this porch, this drum, this foam." All that navigation, all those distant horizons, and the destination was always here.

Midway through, the song steps out of itself into a sacred oli: "Kū i ka honua, kū i ka moana / Ke aloha nō ke kahua" — stand on the land, stand on the ocean; love is the foundation.
